NUMEROUS PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS FOUND NO CONCLUSIVE INFORMATION RELATIVE TO BILL’S DISAPPEARANCE OR THAT OF HIS CAR, WHICH ALSO HAS NEVER BEEN FOUND.

INITIALLY REPORTED TO THE ROSELLE PARK (NJ) POLICE DEPARTMENT (RPPD), OUR FAMILY BECAME AWARE ONLY AFTER THE FACT THAT THE RPPD DELAYED FOR A WEEK OR MORE BEFORE HIS DISAPPEARANCE WAS FORMALLY REPORTED TO THE FBI. MOREOVER, THE DETECTIVE INTIALLY IN CHARGE BRANDED BILL WITH HIGHLY DEROGATORY NAMES NO MOTHER SHOULD EVER HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT HER CHILD. AFTER MANY YEARS. AND VERY LITTLE INVESTIGATION, THE CHIEF OF THE ROSELLE PARK PD AGREED TO MEET WITH A WORLD RENOWNED FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGIST RETAINED, OF COURSE, BY OUR FAMILY, WHO IS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL FOUNDERS OF THE VIDOCQ SOCIETY. AFTER SEVERAL SCHEDULED MEETINGS WERE CANCELLED BY THE CHIEF, HE INFORMED US THAT HIS DEPARTMENT WAS REALLY NOT EQUIPPED AND STAFFED TO MEET WITH THIS FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGIST AND HANDLE OUR BROTHER’S CASE/INVESTIGATION. THIS - AFTER 19 YEARS. AT THAT POINT, OUR FAMILY INSISTED THAT THE ENTIRE ‘INVESTIGATION’ BE TURNED OVER TO THE NEW JERSEY STATE POLICE MISSING PERSONS UNIT (NJSPMPU).

THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED APPROXIMATELY 15 YEARS AGO. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW SPURTS OF ACTIVE INVESTIGATION MOSTLY PROMPTED BY OUR FAMILY. AT OUR FIRST MEETING WITH THE THEN HEAD OF THE NJSP MISSING PERSONS UNIT WE WERE ADVISED  - AFTER ALL THESE YEARS – THAT BILL DID NOT FIT THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ‘AN ENDANGERED MISSING PERSON’, AND THUS HE SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ENTERED IN THE NIC/NCIC DATA BASE MAINTAINED BY THE FBI. UPON CHECKING WITH THE FBI WE FOUND THIS NOT THE CASE. ONE THING THAT HAS BEEN MADE EMINENTLY AND PAINFULLY CLEAR TO OUR FAMILY IS THAT AN ADULT MALE IS VIEWED BY THE POLICE AS ‘TAKING OFF’, ‘OUT ON A BENDER’, ETC. THEY DO NOT TAKE THESE CASES AS SERIOUSLY AS THEY SHOULD.

THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE NJSP HAS REFUSED ALL THESE YEARS TO MEET WITH OUR FAMILY. THE NJSPMPU HAS REFUSED TO MEET WITH THE AFOREMENTIONED FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGIST, WITHOUT REASON. PERHAPS, IT IS BECAUSE HE WAS ONE OF A TEAM THAT SOLVED THE INFAMOUS LIST FAMILY MURDERS IN NJ!! AND THEY WERE EMBARASSED. THEY SHOULD BE, BUT THEY SHOULD ALSO BE PROFESSIONAL ENOUGH TO DO THEIR JOBS.

OUR FAMILY HAS CONSISTENTLY REQUESTED REPORTS AND INFORMATION ABOUT WHATEVER THE NJSPMPU IS DOING AND COPIES OF BILL’S FILES. WE ARE ADVISED THAT BILL’S CASE IS AN ACTIVE INVESTIGATION AND THAT THEY CANNOT PROVIDE US WITH INFORMATION WITHOUT JEOPARDIZING THE ‘INVESTIGATION’ FOR NUMEROUS REASONS THE MOST RIDICULOUS OF WHICH IS THAT ALL FAMILY MEMBERS ARE VIEWED AS POTENTIAL SUSPECTS (‘PERSONS OF INTEREST’ IN TODAY’S POLICE PARLANCE). OUR ENTIRE FAMILY ASKED TO BE INTERVIEWED (CAN YOU BELIEVE 34 YEARS AFTER A MAN AND HIS CAR DISAPPEAR NOT ONE OF BILL’S 9 BROTHERS AND SISTERS HAVE BEEN INTERVIEWED BY ANY POLICE IN CONNECTION WITH THIS CASE??), TO BE THE SUBJECT OF LIE DETECTOR TESTS, TO WAIVE ALL RIGHTS TO A TRIAL AND THE RELATED DEFENSE IF, IN FACT, ANY OF US WERE CHARGED (THIS IS HOW SURE WE ARE) BUT THIS WAS ALL TO NO AVAIL.

LET US CLARIFY ONE POINT IN THE PRECEDING PARAGRAPH. WITHIN THE LAST 10 YEARS, 5 OF BILL’S BROTHERS MADE A TRIP TO ROSELLE PARK AND NEARBY TOWNS TRACING WHERE BILL WAS ON HIS ‘LAST’ NIGHT. WE HAD VISITED KENILWORTH, LINDEN AND ROSELLE AND THEN MADE OUR WAY TO ROSELLE PARK. WE WERE PULLED OVER BY TWO RPPD POLICE CRUISERS AND TWO OFFICERS APPROACHED OUR VEHICLE WITH HANDS ON THEIR WEAPONS. WE INQUIRED AS TO WHY WE WERE BEING PULLED OVER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE HAD BEEN COMPLAINTS AND WE WERE ACTING SUSPICIOUSLY – THAT IS PROBABLY TRUE BECAUSE WE DID CHECK OUT SOME GROUNDS NEAR BILL’S APARTMENT IN ROSELLE PARK, AND TRIED TO ASCERTAIN WHETHER OR NOT A BODY COULD HAVE BEEN DUMPED OR BURIED IN THE CRAWL SPACE UNDER HIS BUILDING.

TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE THIS MAKES THE FIRST TIME IN BILL’S ‘INVESTIGATION’ WHEN SOMEONE WAS ACTUALLY STOPPED AND QUESTIONED – AND THEY WERE 5 OF BILL’S BROTHERS. WE WERE ADVISED BY THE CHIEF OF THE RPPD THAT THIS WAS STILL AN ACTIVE INVESTGATION AND WE COULDNOT DO AN INVESTIGATION ON OUR OWN.

WE DO WANT YOU TO KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN SOME TRULY WONDERFUL OFFICERS, TROOPERS AND DETECTIVES INVOLVED IN TRYING TO FIND BILL. HOWEVER, THEIR NUMBERS CAN BE COUNTED ON ONE HAND AS FAR AS THIS FAMILY KNOWS. CANDIDLY, THE MISSING PERSONS DEPARTMENT AT THE NJSP IS LIKE A REVOLVING DOOR. A DETECTIVE GETS THE CASE, MAYBE HAS A CHANCE TO READ THE FILE, AND DO A LITTLE, AND THEN HE/SHE IS SENT TO ANOTHER UNIT.

ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO, THE FAMILY WENT THROUGH EXHAUSTIVE MEASURES AND SECURED APPROVAL FOR A SEARCH IN AND AROUND THE LINDEN PD FIRING RANGE. WE INVITED THE NJSP AND ITS MISSING PERSONS UNIT MEMBERS, THE ROSELLE PARK POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE LINDEN POLICE DEPARTMENT TO BE IN ATTENDANCE AND TO HELP US SEARCH. ONLY OFFICERS FROM THE LINDEN PD WERE THERE. THEIR HELP, AND THE RESULTANT FORENSIC ANALYSIS OF SOME BONES, WAS EXPEDITIOUS AND PROFESSIONAL.

THE LACK OF PARTICIPATION BY THE NJSP AND THE NJSPMPU AND THE RPPD WAS JUST PAR FOR THE COURSE AS TO THE WAY OUR BROTHER, A HIGHLY DECORATED VETERAN OF THE VIETNAM WAR IN WHICH HE FLEW HELICOPTERS ON ALL KINDS OF MISSIONS, HAS BEEN TREATED.

The family of Bill Jamison (William J. Jamison) is offering a REWARD of $100,000. for definitive and conclusive information as to the whereabouts of our brother, Bill, who disappeared the night of March 26-27, 1981. He was last seen in the Chez Lounge at the Linden Lanes Bowling Alley in Linden, NJ as well as the St. George Diner, also in Linden. Bill resided in Roselle Park, NJ and worked at Haug Die Casting in Kenilworth, NJ.

Additionally, the family is offering a smaller REWARD (no less than $10,000. depending on what is recovered) for definitive and conclusive information as to the car Bill was driving the night he disappeared. That car was a 1981 Ford LTD Station Wagon, Midnight Blue with a stripe on sides, and its rear supports were modified to carry heavy loads, NJ Plate 861-PKY.

33 Years Later

Bill: Here it is March 27, 2014; thirty-three long years ago that you disappeared without a trace from our lives. Our memories of you are all fixed as if you were the same looking 33 year old that we remember. But, if you are alive, of course, you are not; you are 66 years old. We keep hoping and praying that you are, in fact, alive; that you have found happiness and love and perhaps have a wife and children. Nothing would make us all happier, especially since we are sliding down the back side of the mountain awfully fast, then to see you walk through the door with that quirky, smirky, smile and raising a can of Miller’s Lite, puffing on a Marlboro, jutting out that Buddha Belly, and dragging along your entourage.

Perhaps, that is never to be; perhaps, that night or early morning in New Jersey you met fate, and the end of your life. But that is what we do not know, and for 33 years we have NOT known. It is the ‘NOT KNOWING’ that is so unbearable – so gnawing. To think of the thousands and thousands of parents and siblings of MISSING CHILDREN and ADULTS, and all those MISSING IN ACTION in all the wars, and the millions of families who never find CLOSURE is heartbreaking, and we are in that group.

Oft times we think of THE HOLY FAMILY: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Joseph died sometime before Jesus, and our father died shortly before you disappeared; Jesus died an horrific death at the age of 33; you either died or disappeared at the age of 33; and Jesus’ Mother, Mary lived for a time after Christ’s death, and your mother and ours lived for 21 years after you disappeared suffering every day with the doubts about what had happened to you. Maybe, it is right and just that THE HOLY FAMILY had closure – they knew that Christ died, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.

Why cannot our family and all the others have the same closure, bringing to end the suffering, the doubt, the pain and anguish?? We pray that THE HOLY FAMILY hears our prayers and brings us peace and comfort and healing soon. May God’s will be done. We ask all who read these words to share in our prayers, and also to continue to share with your relatives and friends our mission to FIND BILL through these various Social Media.

On Mar. 26-27, 1981, 32 years ago, our brother, William J. Jamison disappeared along with his company car. Bill lived in Roselle Park and Strathmere, NJ, worked in Kenilworth, NJ and was last seen from the best we have been able to ascertain in Linden, NJ. Whatever efforts may have been made by the Roselle Park Police Department, the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the New Jersey State Police have proved futile to date. The FBI refused to become involved.

All efforts by the family to have Law Enforcement work with the Forensic Psychologist who worked to solve the John List (NJ Murderer of his entire family) Case, and many others, have also proved futile as Law Enforcement has refused to investigate his conclusions.

Bill is one of the many, many Americans who are THE MISSING IN AMERICA.

MISSING SINCE MAR. 26-27, 1981

Today, March 27, 2012 marks the 31^st anniversary of our brother, Bill’s, disappearance from the Roselle Park, Kenilworth, and Linden, New Jersey area – near the cities of Elizabeth and Newark.

31 years ago there was no indication of what happened to Bill or the company car, which he drove.

Today – 31 years later - there is still no information as to his whereabouts or that of his car.

We are asking all of you to help us in our quest to find Bill. Information and photos are on his web site: www.williamjamison.com; his Facebook page: William J. Jamison; and his blog: www.williamjamison.blogspot.com. We ask each of you to share this information with your friends, acquaintances, relatives, etc. and ask them to share it also.

Bill was 34 when he disappeared, and would turn 65 on his next birthday – for almost half of his life (if he is alive), he has been among THE MISSING IN AMERICA. It is staggering how many people are missing in this country. It is even more staggering that Law Enforcement does little to help. Just look back at the Jaycee Duggard and Elizabeth Smart cases. Law Enforcement is content to wait for a DNA match – if it ever happens. We have been told recently by the agency having jurisdiction – The New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit – that if we uncover any information to let them know.

So we feel not only is Bill’s case a Cold Case, not only is it Frigid, it has been Abandoned by those charged to look for Missing Persons – yes, they are overwhelmed and have no leads; yet, they refuse to meet with his family; to meet with a forensic psychologist retained by the family, who was part of the team responsible for the capture of the infamous NJ mass murderer, John List; to divulge records in Bill’s case because allegedly this is an Active Investigation; nor do they communicate with Bill’s family on a regular basis; and they consistently refuse our offers to help them in research of files, etc.

YOUR HELP IS REALLY NEEDED BECAUSE WE ARE ON OUR OWN.

Bill: On Dec. 25, 1981 our family celebrated our very first Christmas without you, and without knowing where you were. It would be unbelievable – if not so tragic – to have thought then that 30 years later, this Dec. 25, 2011, we still would not know your whereabouts or what happened to you.

The Siegfried Family like many of ours settled in Glenside, Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia, and we all grew up knowing and going to school with each other.

DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS

Apr. 11, 1971

Forty years ago today our brother, Bill, was engaged in combat flight operations with Company A, 227^th Assault Helicopter Battalion in the Republic of Vietnam. For his actions that day he was awarded one of the highest commendations combat personnel can receive – The Distinguished Flying Cross.

The Citation for this award reads – in part – as follows:

“ For heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary actions above and beyond the call of duty: First Lieutenant Jamison distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as co-pilot of a lift helicopter on an urgent resupply mission to a beleaguered outpost near Dak To in the central highlands. Due to intense enemy fire, previous attempts to resupply the fire base had failed and the situation was critical. Flying in the lead ship in a flight of five, First Lieutenant Jamison’s aircraft began encountering heavy fire when still approximately two kilometers out on final approach. In spite of the heavy fire which grew more intense as his aircraft neared the fire base, First Lieutenant Jamison remained calm as he kept the aircraft commander aware of the engine instrument readings and helped to pinpoint the direction and location of enemy firing positions. His precise and timely actions in directing the kick out of supplies when over the fire base and readiness to take over should the need arise demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and determination, and contributed immeasurably to the success of the mission. First Lieutenant Jamison’s courage and devotion above and beyond the call of duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United State Army.”

Bill never thought of himself as a hero, but rather someone who had a job to do, and did it to the best of his ability.

We need your HELP to find Bill. In thirty years, Law Enforcement has been unable to shed any light on what happened to our brother or his car.

In the most recent response from Law Enforcement, they have ignored our latest request to meet with them, they have ignored once again and repeatedly over the years our request for them to meet with a renowned forensic psychologist/investigator who has been involved in Bill’s case for approximately many years, and ‘proactively’ they have offered to pursue credible leads that we can independently develop.

Mar. 26 - 27th, 1981

William Jamison worked a full day at the former Haug Die Casting in Kenilworth, NJ on Thursday, Mar. 26^th, 1981 where he was the Vice President of Production and had been employed since the late 1970s. Bill left work and went to the former DeStefano’s restaurant also in Kenilworth arriving at about 06:00 PM. Bill left there and went to the former Chez Lounge in the Linden Lanes Bowling Alley in Linden, NJ to meet friends for drinks at approximately 10:00 PM. Thereafter, Bill went to the former St. George Diner also in Linden for an early morning breakfast arriving at approximately 01:00 AM on Friday, Mar. 27^th, 1981 and leaving by 01:30 AM.

This is the last time we know of that anyone saw or communicated with Bill.

We have been unable to confirm whether or not Bill returned to the apartment (29C) he shared with our brother, Jerry, at the Colfax Manor Apartments in Roselle Park, NJ the night of Mar. 26^th, 1981 or in the early morning of Mar. 27^th, 1981.

One wonders if Bill had any inkling that Thursday, Mar. 26^th, 1981 would be his last day at work at Haug. All indications and investigations indicate he did not.

Bill had made a commitment to allow a coworker to use Bill’s company car at approximately 08:00 AM on Friday, Mar. 27^th, 1981. Bill never showed up at Haug. A coworker went to his apartment and knocked on the door with no response; additionally he checked the parking lot for Bill’s car and did not find it. Workers at Haug immediately notified our sister, Katie that Bill had not showed for work.

Katie immediately called the New Jersey State Police reported Bill missing and asked them to check to see if Bill or the car were at a home (where our mother lived) that Bill owned in Strathmere, NJ. The State Police did so and notified our sister that no one was there, nor was the car.

Katie also called the Roselle Park, NJ, Police Department and reported Bill missing. Moreover, she made numerous calls to hospitals in NJ to ascertain whether or not Bill was or had been there for any reason; all results were negative. She then contacted our brother, Jack, and let him know that Bill was missing.

Earlier in the week Bill had talked with Katie and made arrangements to visit her and her family at their home in Pennsylvania the night of Mar. 27^th, 1981. He never showed up. Additionally, Bill had talked with Jack and made arrangements to visit him and his family in New York State on Sat., Mar. 28^th, 1981. Bill did not show up. Jack and Katie then agreed to go to Roselle Park, NJ on Sun., Mar. 29^th, 1981.

March 24, 1981 - Tuesday

Marianne, I, our three children at the time (Will, Carolyn and Chris - Pat was not yet on the sonar screen), our mother and our brother, Jerry, had traveled to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands the previous week and were enjoying a wonderful vacation.

I had not yet reached the old age of 40, Marianne was not yet 30, Will would celebrate his birthday in the Virgin Islands, Carolyn was 3, Chris was 4 months, Mom was 66 and Jerry was 24 and thinking about asking a girl named Cindy to marry him.

That night – Tuesday, March 24^th, 1981 - Bill called from New Jersey, and spoke with each of us.

That was the last time we heard his voice.

1981-2011

This year, this month, and this week our family will mark the 30th anniversary of our brother, Bill's, disappearance on Mar. 26-27th, 1981. It is not one of the happy anniversaries - it is sad and frustrating, fills some of us with a sense of guilt or failure or both and many other emotions and feelings; there is a consistent longing to know where Bill is - is he dead or alive? There is a constant gnawing at your heart as to where your loved one has gone; the uncertainty, the unknowing, the ambiguity, the loss of love, the loss of a brother is with you through the busy days and in the quiet solitude of night.

With death there is finality; there is certainty; there is a funeral, a grave site to visit or other ways to commemorate the loss of those you love and you come to terms eventually. For the families of those MISSING IN AMERICA and elsewhere in this world there is only uncertainty; each member of our family has dealt with this disappearance in their own way and carried on. It is not easy. Our remembrances of our brother are based on 30 year old recollections - on 30 year old photos - he would now be in his sixties, a different person; one we no longer know - we have no grave to visit, no place to send flowers.

Mar. 26-27th, 1981 was for our family the day a lot of love and happiness disappeared from our lives.

I want to share the story of three decades spent searching for our brother, Bill. It is a cliché to compare this experience to the layers of an onion, but that is how events have happened; the layers unfolding one at a time. On our journey, we've made difficult discoveries about the process of searching for a missing loved one and the fate of our country’s unknown dead. Mass graves, unidentified bodies, war veterans interred  in a pauper grave, unclaimed and anonymous remains shelved in the offices of a  funeral director or a medical examiner….these situations are now familiar to us. The MISSING IN AMERICA are not just children whose faces and stories appear on milk cartons, in newspapers, and on television and tug at our hearts. Every year thousands of adults, including many veterans, also disappear. It is only rarely that these stories are told.
